The Chosen Launch

#GoodDeathWeek Scotland is the ideal time to announce the World Premiere of our brand new show The Chosen. This deeply personal reflection on how we experience the time left to us is created and directed by Company Chordelia’s Kally Lloyd-Jones and performed by a six-strong cast. The Chosen is about dying, and so is also about embracing the art of living and the passage of time. How do we choose to live in the face of the inevitable and how do we think about the final stage of our life cycle? Increasingly, as medicine advances, knowledge of imminent death has become a reality for everyone.

A reference to The Rite of Spring - where the “Chosen One” is to be sacrificed, but also revered and honoured - The Chosen addresses our mortality from the shifting perspectives of ourselves and our loved ones.

The Chosen will open at Dance Base 2-25 August as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe before touring across Scotland and beyond in September. Tickets for Edinburgh are on sale from Friday 16 May at www.edfringe.com

Judith Mackrell Guardian Review 5 stars

"The story of Vaslav Nijinsky – the mad, broken genius of ballet – has been told many times on stage. Yet of all the versions I have seen, none has evoked its subject with the imagination and tenderness of Kally Lloyd-Jones’s new work."
